No improvements in 3Dpolys. Same as I can remember (pre R9).

Wrong tool, wish they would call it something else so people would quit
trying to use it like a 2DPline.

Yea, but there is no reason that this command couldn't be modified so that
arc segments could be added as tiny chords. All 3rd party civil/survey
packages include this functionality.

Plain-Jane AutoCAD is not a "3rd party civil/survey packages include this
functionality", it's a generic middle of the road no special unique features
version of AutoCAD. For Civil/Survey, or any other disciplines, you buy a
more tailored geared version of AutoCAD to use.

Never stopped them before from stealing ideas. Many current core commands
(and/or command options) started out in 3rd party products at some point. So
are you saying that a person using a "generic middle of the road no special
unique features version of AutoCAD" has no business trying to create a 3D
polyline with arcs? You might as well take out render, images, splines,
digitizing, etc. Surely a person using a "generic middle of the road no
special unique features version of AutoCAD" will not need these tools
either......

Wow, is that a new site?

>Never stopped them before from stealing ideas. In this case Autodesk would be stealing from themselves. They do sell a product that does what jyan wants to do. Its called Inventor Series (which includes MDT and Autocad for "free"). Autocad is not really a full featured 3D modeler. Sure it has some 3D tools grafted onto old DOS code.

A) Nothing from Autodesk is free.
B) I'll bet there was a lisp or ads program to draw 3D arcs long before
Autodesk put it in MDT/Inventor.

Anyway, nobody said AutoCAD _was_ a 3D modeler. So R2004 is based on DOS
code? Interesting. How did they get Microsoft's code, and how does operating
system code relate to computer aided drafting?

Your going off track: if you want specific AutoCAD abilities, you buy a
specific AutoCAD version capable of doing what you want.

Wrong. All that was said was that certain features could and possibly should be added to the "generic middle of the road no special unique features version of AutoCAD"
