    Hi anybody :D

Kind of a simple question - but one that all the same has had me perplexed no matter what I accept tried to rattled my encephalon trying to think of a solution.

I have a Droid2, and I work for a company that requires Video Blogs to be uploaded weekly. I only moved into a new home, and have no Cyberspace/Wifi source even so, and honestly don't desire to pay for service if I tin avoid it at all!

*Is there any way, method, service, or application that would permit me to Upload & Send videos and big files, merely using the native 3G information connection from my Droid2!? (Through electronic mail, to Face Book, to YouTube)

I have heard of YouSendIt and DropBox, merely recall it is all still dependent on the telephone itself? Cheers And so MUCH!

PS : Equally a last resort, would information technology piece of work to utilize my other Smart Phone, an HTC Touch Pro two, to share its signal as a 3G hotspot, and have the Droid2 use THAT betoken as a 'Wifi?'

    1. Download the Forums for Android™ app!

      Download

  2. i was thinking nigh the same thing, using another phones hotspot as wifi and uploading youtube videos. im going to endeavour it with mine and my wifes phones and ill let you know what happens.

I've ever had problems trying to ship video or large files via email on my droid. Youtube takes forever. But I take used Dropbox to upload videos to, using only 3G. At that place'south a Dropbox app in the marketplace. It's yet kind of dull but it works. Lol For instance, it took nearly v minutes to upload a 30mb video (about 1 minute long).

I'k non sure if you would be able to use the other phone'south bespeak, just if your Droid2 is rooted, why not use information technology for tethering and send the videos from your pc or laptop?

Delight permit me know how information technology goes!! :) Although of course MUCH slower, peradventure it will even so 'see' the other phones wifi broadcast as adequate, and upload/send the video through email or to Face Book/You Tube etc? I don't mind even if I'm sending a 75mb file, and it takes 2 full hours, I will just prepare the phones next to each other, plugged in, and do some chores effectually the house. I just DON'T desire to take on another bill every month with DSL/Internet at home :)First of all, Cheers for the above idea I bolded! I also have an HTC Touch Pro 2, and could even utilise that as the internet source I suppose, I should have already thought of this, sometimes the nigh obvious solutions escape us, DOH! I take a Netbook and two Smart Phones, so I'1000 sure it tin be washed.

Also, MY DROID 2 ISN'T ROOTED :( I have still to find a one-click Droid2 specific root app/program, and sad as it is to admit, I am non interested in reading pages of instructions just to open the 3G wifi sharing on my phone.

Dropbox works!? Crawly!! I idea this might be a absurd solution. Oh, and BELIEVE ME, 5-10minutes for a 30mb file isn't bad AT ALL where I'thousand coming from :) At some indicate down the road, I am going to accept to become Internet at home I suppose, utilise my PS3 to information technology'southward full potential with Netflix and Demand 4 Speed Hot Pursuit and all ;)

And then... Dropbox allows unlimited file sizes and information technology'south free? THIS is at least a great temporary solution.

I see. LOL Have you tried PdaNet for tethering to your laptop? You don't have to be rooted, and it works pretty well. Likewise in the market place, if you want to check it out.

And yes, Dropbox works! I love it. I fix a folder to share with a friend of mine, to transfer files, videos, pics, music etc. The app is really simple. It's not unlimited. Just the 2gb plan is free. Just they have some other plans bachelor if y'all demand more.

Dropbox - Online fill-in, file sync, and sharing made easy.

I have actually used both Dropbox and PDA Net in the past, but I ended up not using Dropbox at all later on the first mean solar day, because although ingenious and convenient, I just didn't have a need for information technology at that point in fourth dimension. PDA Net was alright, it worked, only I got a niggling frustrated with the other complimentary file I had to download onto my Netbook in order for it to work. That kind of seemed counter-intuitive, since how can I download a file on my computer, IF I'M USING PDA NET in the first place to GET an Internet connexion on my computer!? Haha ;)

Lastly, near the Dropbox 2gb Programme... is that 2gb of active archived data in my folder, or, tin can I transfer all the data I please, and once it shows up on my Netbook's folder, simply extract it onto my desktop and no longer be using my 2gb limit? :)

  7. rpack

Haha I thought most that too. But when y'all install PdaNet on your phone, it gives yous the option to download the desktop file on the browser on your phone. From there, you could just transfer the file to your netbook via usb. Problem solved!Yes, as soon as you lot move it your netbook, it won't be using up the space in the folder anymore. It just tin only hold 2gb at a time.

THIS IS AWESOME NEWS! It's Christmas Eve, and hearing that Dropbox doesn't limit you to a Full transfer of 2gb, and rather stored data all at 1 time, is a big relief and bit of adept news. Shouldn't I exist more excited about presents at this point? HAHA! :)

Thank you then much, 2gb is More than I will need to upload and transfer videos. Although..... afterward giving it more than idea, I kind of skipped over the most obvious solution of all: Simply hooking my Droid2 upwardly to my Netbook after filming, and then upload to Face Book or You Tube from my Netbook using PDA Net. DOH.

PS: The PDA Internet download browser option is not bad. Thank you for the info.
PPS: Yous've been so hugely helpful thus far, I was wondering if y'all might know of any one-click root programs for the Droid2 that volition simply enable wifi hotspot sharing? I want to de-wire my life as much equally possible... and after buying the latest and greatest Smartphone on the market place, didn't retrieve it would be this hard, haha. *I just saw on the Android Market that Wifi Tether by Barnacle required Rooted telephone, BUT it advertises allowing to get Xbox (and other consoles!?) online!!! Anyone know anything about this.

    I'm glad I could help! =)

Yes! I used the Super 1 Click program
hither. It's by far the virtually simplest way I've found to get root access.
Download the latest version (v1.5.5), and scout the video. Super easy!

Sorry! I've never tried to tether an xbox, so I can't help you in that location.

I "tipped" this since information technology was so helpful and well laid out! THANK YOU! You lot fabricated it easily understandable and even linked me to the most contempo software version to exercise information technology all.

The only reason I have been crippling the true ability of my Droid2 all this time is considering I thought there wasn't a 1-click out there. MAJOR THANKS.

I didn't see an option to marker the thread as "Solved," merely it has been with the slap-up help of the members here!

In this thread lone, I have learned how to One-Click Root for the Droid2, AND received more than one selection for uploading videos WITHOUT wifi at dwelling!

  12. In case anyone else finds this thread in the time to come when they search, the other like shooting fish in a barrel, i click selection for rooting is Z4root, which is easily institute with a quick google search. (I believe it'southward been pulled from the market)

Take yous tried both, and practice you take a preference over the other? As long as it is elementary, one click, and streamlined, I don't care which 1 it is :) Thanks for the suggestion.

PS: The Google effect displayed many links saying this unlock app was fake.

    Driblet BOX WORKS

    BUT Only over Wifi :(

I am doing it now equally nosotros speak, wow, what a simple way to always proceed important files on my home PC - I just had to come back past and say cheers, and permit everyone know information technology works and works very well!

(now all I take to do is figure out how to root, send emails over wifi, and and use my D2 every bit a 3G hotspot after rooting, and I'm 100% good to get!)

Dropbox does work............ just but over wifi :(

  16. The people who said information technology's fake are most likely new (or stupid) android users. If you read ANY forums virtually rooting apps, information technology'south quite credible that on some phones, rooting apps demand to be run several times earlier they work exactly right (I've done mine twice and information technology worked flawlessly the starting time fourth dimension, both times). Too, at that place's no such thing as a truly universal rooting app (or any other kind of app).. In that location are limitations to what software can exercise on WIDELY varying hardware platforms. I plant z4root in a thread on xda developers, one of the nigh widely regarded android websites on the internet. The app worked fine for me, first try, and I haven't had an issue since. It's literally two clicks (permit super user permissions... so root) Too, z4root has a one click united nations-root option, in example you need to take your phone to the store for service, as well as a temporary root option, which leaves your phone rooted until the next fourth dimension y'all reboot it.

I have non used both apps, I found z4root first, and since information technology was so like shooting fish in a barrel and useful (and I still take the .apk on my SD card), I don't see any need to switch.

  18. Let's see, things I practise that I couldn't without root:

Employ Titanium Backup to freeze all the stock bloatware, improving performance and extending bombardment life.

Use SetCPU to scale my processor back when the screen is off, or when the battery is too hot, once again extending battery life AND improving performance.

Employ Autokiller to utilize the built in Android processes to efficiently (and properly) kill empty/background apps when free RAM approaches certain levels (my complimentary RAM almost never drops beneath 200MB) Once again, improving performance and improving battery life.

Of form wireless tethering (though I've used information technology less than you lot'd call back, it'southward just nice to take the selection, should the need ascend)

I'm sure in that location's other stuff I'm forgetting.

With all those apps/settings, my battery is good for 2-3 days of lite usage, and one to 1 and a half of very heavy usage, and scores in the depression 1600s in Quadrant tests. All on the stock ROM.

AWESOME :) I actually am missing out.

  20. Uh, I forgot to mention, I have the BP7X extended battery from Motorola.

Hello, just a quick semi-related question...

I tried using the Wifi Router App for Rooted Users, and it flashed a message as information technology opened saying I didn't have 'access command,' and so that feature was existence disabled. What does that mean? Am I not properly rooted?

Perhaps I should go back and first all once more... would that mean I should re-root/Un-root and start from scratch, or simply hook up tethered to laptop and attempt again?

The Wifi App 'works,' however its an extremely slow connexion... just and so again for some reason my Droid2 is irksome every bit a snail at habitation and my TouchPro2 is FAST... but both are from Verizon, beingness used in the exact same identify with verbal same 3G point.
